The Jerusalem Film Festival kicks off on Thursday, July 17, and will run until July 26. Screenings will take place at the Jerusalem Cinematheque (address: 11, Hebron Rd., Jerusalem).

“The Things You Kill” (Dir.: Alireza Khatami | France, Poland, Canada, Turkey 2025 | 114 min | Turkish, English | Hebrew & English subtitles | screening supported by the Polish Institute) – A psychological thriller that won Best Director at Sundance and was hailed as “a style fusion of Abbas Kiarostami and David Lynch”. A literature teacher learns that his beloved mother has passed away. During mourning, he begins to suspect his father’s involvement in the tragedy. With the help of a mysterious man, he sets a plan for revenge in motion – but things soon spiral out of control.
“The Guest” (Dir.: Zvika Gregory Portnoy, Zuzanna Solakiewicz | Poland, Qatar 2024 | 78 min | English, Polish, Arabic | Hebrew & English subtitles | screening supported by the Polish Institute) – A young Syrian escapes to Poland and finds refuge with a local family. The uncertainty of what awaits him charges every moment with tension. This sensitive and hypnotic film, awarded Best Cinematography at IDFA, offers a human perspective on those trapped between worlds, searching for light in a darkness shaped by fear and suspicion of the other.
“Köln 75” (Dir.: Ido Fluk | Germany, Poland, Belgium 2025 | 112 min | German, English | Hebrew & English subtitles | screening supported by the Polish Institute) – Winter 1975. While European concert halls resound with classical masterpieces, 18-year-old Vera Brandes dreams of something different. She convinces American jazz genius Keith Jarrett to perform in Cologne, launching a once-in-a-lifetime concert that became the best-selling jazz album of all time. A film about belief, musical passion, and the triumph of the human spirit, seen through the eyes of a young woman who made the impossible happen.
“Mama” (Dir.: Or Sinai | Israel, Poland, Italy 2025 | 93 min | Hebrew, Polish | Hebrew & English subtitles) – For years, Mila has been working far from home, hoping to earn money for her family’s future. When an unexpected accident sends her back to her impoverished Polish village, she must confront the reality that time has deeply changed her family – and herself.
