The tour is part of Polish Encounters series– a joint initiative of the Polish Institute and active members of the Polish-speaking community in Israel. The series was created with the aim of providing a regular meeting place where Polish speakers in Israel can get together, meet new people, talk and spend time together, sharing a common language and an interest in Polish culture. Through these events, the Polish Institute’s library becomes an open and welcoming space that goes far beyond books: a place for meeting, conversation, curiosity and connecting with others.
During the tour, we will travel back in time, following the people, institutions and initiatives of Jews of Polish origin who played an important role in the development of Tel Aviv and the early years of the State of Israel.
Among the stops along the route are the former location of the legendary Neustein Bookshop, the Polish-Palestinian Chamber of Commerce and the Tel Aviv branch of PKO, the Polish National Bank. Through these and other locations, we will discover the historical ties between Poland and Tel Aviv and the lasting mark left on the city by its Jewish community of Polish origin.
The tour will be conducted in Polish and will start and end at Beit Psagot, 3 Rothschild Boulevard, Tel Aviv. After the walk, we will continue to the Polish Institute, where we will welcome participants with refreshments and a glass of wine. The entire event will last approximately three hours, including around two hours of walking.
Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required. Places are limited.
