Gala Concert of Polish Music and Folk Dance

POSK presents a concert of music and dance by Polish composers.

Music by Polish composers Chopin, Moniuszko, Szymanowski, Paderewski and Karłowicz sung by the Polish Opera in London chorus and soloists Marcin Gesla and Ewa Majerczyk. Piano performance by Przemek Winnicki.

Program includes highlights form Moniuszko’s Halka, Straszny Dwor, Jawnuta and Widma as well as Szymanowski’s Harnasie and songs by Karłowicz .

Przemek Winnicki will perform Paderewski – Variations in A major op.16 and Chopin – Waltz in c sharp minor op. 64

Polish folk dancing by members of Karolinka, Mazury, Orleta and Tatry.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
