Acclaimed UK violinist Nicola Benedetti will play Szymanowski's lesser-known Second Violin Concerto
12th January 2023, The Hallé at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
Nicola Benedetti, is one of the best known and most highly acclaimed violinists of her generation.
In this concert at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, she joins forces with conductor Sir Mark Elder to explore the lesser-known Second Violin Concerto of Polish composer Karol Szymanowski.
The concerto is infused with Polish folk music from the Tatra mountains, which Szymanowski described as ‘the discovery of one’s own jewels’ when he first came across it.
The concert will also feature works by Szymanowksi’s contemporary, Respighi, as well as Brahms’s symphonies.

From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
