Study Visit to Poland for British Teachers

A funded study visit to Warsaw, Toruń, Gdynia and Gdańsk between 29 May - 2 June 2023, for British teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge of Poland. Deadline to Apply: 22 March 2023.

The Embassy of Poland in London opens applications for a study visit to Poland (Warsaw, Toruń, Gdynia and Gdańsk) for British teachers, to take place between 29 May – 2 June 2023.

This five-day visit is designed to give British schoolteachers an opportunity to increase their knowledge of Poland’s history and discover its current economic and social situation.

The programme of the visit will focus on topics such as the Polish experience during the Second World War, Poland during the Cold War and after the political changes of 1989 along with a presentation of the country’s developments after EU accession in 2004.

A visit to Toruń will present an opportunity to explore the work of Nicolaus Copernicus, whose 500th birthday anniversary we are celebrating this year.

The support that the Polish state and its citizens are showing to the Ukrainian people fleeing the war will also be highlighted during the trip.

Over the centuries, Poland has played a significant role in many of Europe’s most important movements and historical events, from the creation of a modern state during the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, to the fall of Communism in the Eastern Bloc.

We hope that, with Poland’s important role in shaping the political and economic landscape in Europe, increased knowledge of this country will be of great interest to British teachers of history, geography, citizenship and their students.

Understanding the complex history and current situation in Poland would also be beneficial to those teachers who may have pupils of Polish heritage in their classes.

The funding will cover the cost of return travel from London to Warsaw as well as accommodation and the cost of travel within Poland.

The programme will be conducted in English.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own health and travel insurance for the duration of their stay in Poland.

Please apply by using the application form which can be downloaded from here and return the scan of a signed copy in a pdf format to the Embassy of Poland by e-mail to london.events@msz.gov.pl.

The deadline for submitting an application is 31st March 2023.

Please note that a limited number of places are available.
