Short Film Festival – In Short, Europe: Awakening

Short Films from across Europe, presented by EUNIC London at Cine Lumiere on the 12th and 13th of May

12-13th May, Cine Lumiere, Institut Francais, London

This edition of the Short Film Festival, ‘In Short, Europe’, entitled Awakening, is organised into four strands: Explore, Grow, Surround and Dream and invites you to imagine new beginnings, reflect on your past experiences and dare to dream of a brighter future.

On the occasion of Europe Day, EUNIC London, the EU Delegation to the United-Kingdom and the Institut français du Royaume-Uni team up to present a festival highlighting the outstanding short film work from 25 European countries in animation, fiction and documentary.

The programme has been curated by Ellie Hales, Film Programmer at Leeds International Film Festival.

From the comfort of a beautiful Croatian forest to the bustling streets of Glasgow on a Saturday night, from an isolated summer house in the French countryside to an apartment block in the bitterly cold Romanian winter. These films transport you to another country, expose you to a different culture and serve as a reminder that although we all have so many differences, we all have the same ability to dream.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
