Yaniewicz & Green Square Piano Spring Recital 2023 – Edinburgh

The Scottish Polish Cultural Association invites you to a recital on the Yaniewicz & Green Square Piano

The Scottish Polish Cultural Association is pleased to announce their upcoming Spring Recital 2023, which will feature a performance on the Yaniewicz & Green Square Piano. This musical event will take place on Saturday, 29th April 2023 at 5:00 pm, at the General Maczek Polish Ex-combatants House located at 11 Drummond Place, Edinburgh EH3 6PJ.

The programme will showcase the talents of soprano Magdalena Durant and pianist John Kitchen, with music selections by Mozart, Moniuszko, Yaniewicz, Chopin, Brahms, Schumann, and Corri. Guests can enjoy the beautiful melodies while sipping on a glass of wine, as the ticket price includes refreshments. Tickets for the recital are priced at £10.00 per person and can be booked online through PayPal by visiting the event’s booking page.

The Scottish Polish Cultural Association is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the Scottish and Polish communities in Edinburgh. The Spring Recital 2023 is one of their many initiatives to showcase the rich musical heritage of both cultures, and it promises to be an evening of beautiful music that is not to be missed.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
