Jakub Cywiński Quartet was founded in June 2022 on the initiative of double bass player/bass guitarist Jakub Cywiński.

This exciting quartet of recognised jazz musicians from the London scene and beyond presents original compositions as well as own arrangements of popular jazz standards. Their music oscillates on the border of mainstream jazz, ethno and fusion!

On the 1st of July, they will perform at Jazz Cafe POSK with Isobel Gathercole.

Isobel Gathercole is a jazz singer based in London. She trained in jazz vocals at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been performing at many of London’s top jazz venues since arriving on the scene in 2014, including Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex, and the Spice of Life.

Isobel developed her love of jazz and the Great American songbook at a very young age and started singing seriously at the age of 11.

Since then, she has had the opportunity to sing with ensembles of all shapes and sizes from her vocal/guitar duo to playing with a full-sized studio orchestra in a tribute to the work of Jeremy Lubbock alongside fellow soloists Lianne Carroll, Joe Stilgoe and Tommy Blaize.

She has also explored big band singing through her work as a vocalist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, in addition to small group work with her own quartet.

Her debut album ‘Daydream’, in collaboration with arranger and composer Colin Skinner, is a love letter to the legendary albums of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

John Paul Muir has established himself as one of the finest pianists to emerge from New Zealand in recent years, and certainly one of the most versatile, equally at home in both classical, jazz, and contemporary genres.

Eric Ford “excels on drums throughout – bold, crisp, creative, in total command of a seemingly endless range of techniques” (Eddie Myer)

Born in Poland, based in London, Jakub Cywiński is a double bass player and composer who currently explores his interest in collaborating with various contemporary composers and jazz musicians such as Ola Onabule, Marco Marconi, Partikel, Duncan Eagles Quartet among others.

He studied double bass as a postgraduate at the Royal College of Music. His varied freelance career has taken him to India, Russia, Lebanon, and other places around the world…

Isobel Gathercole – vocal

Jakub Cywiński – double bass, bass guitar
