Leszek Możdżer @ the London Piano Festival

One of the greatest Polish jazz musicians of the last decade, Leszek Możdżer returns to Kings Place as part of the London Piano Festival.

Saturday 7th October, 7pm, Kings Place London

As part of the London Piano Festival, Kings Place welcomes back outstanding pianist, composer and producer Leszek Możdżer, an artist widely considered to be Polish jazz’s greatest revelation of the last decade.

From the event listing on the Kings Place website:

His classical training allows him to play the piano with great improvisational freedom, creating new musical landscapes to which he lends a timbre, eloquence and harmony all of his own. The result is a subtle, often mystical atmosphere that enchants his audience.

Możdżer has performed and recorded with many internationally acclaimed musicians, including David Friesen, Pat Metheny, Arthur Blythe, Buster Williams, Billy Harper, Joe Lovano, Archi Shepp, David Liebman, Charles Fox, Lester Bowie, David Gilmour, Marcus Miller, John Scofield, Steve Swallow, Eddie Daniels and Tan Dun.

Since 2011 Leszek Możdżer has been the Artistic director of the music festival, Enter Music Festival, held annually in Poznań, on the Lake Strzeszyńskie shoreline.

Leszek Możdżer has recorded over 100 albums, many of them released under his name.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
