London International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists 2024

Applications open for aspiring pianists aged 11-19

Late application deadline: 31st December 2023

In-person competition dates: 4th – 5th March 2024 at The Polish Hearth Club, 55 Princes Gate, South Kensington, London SW7 2PN

The London International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists (LI-CC) is currently accepting applications for its 2024 edition. There are four age categories (up to age 11, up to age 14, up to age 16, and up to age 19) with 14 prizes to be won. Detailed application guidelines, regulations, and contact information are all available on the competition website.

Established in 2022 with the cooperation of Piotr Michalik, Director and Executive Committee Member of Ognisko Polskie, Artur Haftman, internationally acclaimed concert pianist and winner of numerous Chopin competitions, and Jenny Lee, Co – Founder and Director of SIMA Classics, the competition seeks to discover young talent and support and help them regardless of their financial backgrounds. LI-CC will also provide competitors with more opportunities to show their talent and experience the path of becoming a professional musician to help further the development of their musical careers.

The jury includes Professor Vanessa Latarche (Head of Keyboard at the Royal College of Music), Professor Murray McLachlan (Head of Keyboard at Chetham’s School of Music), Professor Piotr Paleczny (Jury and prize winner in the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw), Professor Jianing Kong (Royal College of Music and Central Conservatory of Music in China), Lady Rose Cholomondley (President of the Chopin Society UK), Professor Deniz Gelenbe (Trinity Laban) and Artist Director Artur Haftman (Prizewinner of 25 International Competitions).

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
