Join Polish Social and Cultural Association POSK & the Association of Polish Jazz Musicians in London during the special concert ‘Polish Jazz Wave 2024’. This evening is a part of series of events celebrating POSK 60th anniversary and part of the ‘Jazz at POSK’ concert series.

Come and witness performances of the eight talented young Polish musicians who actively act on the London jazz stage and dynamically guide the direction of the jazz wave.

During the concert, you will hear both Polish well-known pieces and original compositions by our artists. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of jazz expression and celebrate the jubilee of the Polish Social and Cultural Association.

The event will be hosted by Marta Mathea Radwan. The rhythmic section will be led by the pianist Tomasz Zyrmont.

The line-up includes:

  • Leszek Kulaszewicz – tenor saxophone
  • Maciek Pysz – guitar
  • Anita Łazińska – vocals and piano
  • Tomasz Zyrmont – piano
  • Mirko Scarcia – double bass
  • Filippo Galli – drums

Tomasz Zyrmont is a Polish pianist, composer and educator based in London. He has gained recognition through his participation in prominent events like the London Jazz Festival, East European Jazz Festival, Yamaha Music Live, Wigmore Lates, and the Jazz FM Discovery Show. His music has attracted positive attention from numerous radio stations, clubs, and promoters and his compositions have been broadcasted on a multitude of radio stations. Beyond his performances and music composition, he also curates a vibrant series of jam sessions – Jazz at POSK, and is both a member and one of the co-founders of the Association of Polish Jazz Musicians in London.

Marta Mathea Radwan is a Polish conductor, vocalist, composer, arranger, music director, and workshop leader. Marta has worked in studio recording and live stage performance for over 30 years, as a singer, conductor, and music director. She has composed and arranged for jazz ensembles, choirs, 4 contemporary ballet, and commercial advertising. Her choirs and herself were awarded on many occasions. Currently she is a vocal tutor and ensemble leader at Brunel University London. London audiences know her mostly as the leader of several music projects including Alle Choir London, Offbeat Choir, Scandinavian Singing Club, or Jazz for Kids Show.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
