The main image shown above is of Polish Heritage Flight’s Hurricane in 302 ‘City of Poznan’ Squadron markings from Battle of Britain Day – September 15th, 1940.

On that day, 302 Squadron took to the air from Duxford.  WX-E represents the Hurricane that Flt Lt Tadeusz Chlopik flew. He shared the destruction of a Dornier 17 before being shot down over North Weald. Despite bailing out, he was killed. He was just 32 years old and is buried in Sutton Road Cemetery in Southend on Sea.
