Talk: Sounds of Poland – Szymanowski Piano Music

Peter Jablonski – a global ambassador of the acclaimed Polish composer Karol Szymanowski, will be in conversation with Anastasia Belina about Szymanowski's music. The talk will feature a discussion, two short films and a live performance.

Peter Jablonski – a global ambassador of Szymanowski’s music, will be in conversation with Anastasia Belina.

Peter Jablonski is a Swedish concert pianist who has been performing Karol Szymanowski’s works since the beginning of his illustrious career at the age of 17 (he was born in 1971).

Peter is a global ambassador for ’Szymanowski’, a joint project with the Polish Cultural Institute in London, PWM (Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne) and Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which promotes the work of Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937). As part of the project Jablonski will be playing his piano works from London to Seoul this season, starting with his Wigmore Hall recital on the 21st September. This outstanding Polish pianist and composer achieved global renown for his piano and orchestral works. Peter will be in conversation with Anastasia Belina (who manages artists), discussing Szymanowski’s work, and Peter’s impressions of Szymanowski’s music.

The event will include screenings of two short films about Szymanowski, together with a live performance by Peter Jablonski.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
