6th International “Eufonie” Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe

A unique music festival drawing on tradition as well as presenting completely new, previously undiscovered sounds. Running between 2 Nov - 8 Dec, concerts this year take place in 6 Polish cities.

2nd November – 8th December, various venues in 6 Polish cities: Warsaw, Lublin, Krakow, Luslawice, Katowice & Debica

The International Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe “Eufonie” is organized by the National Cultural Center with funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The idea of the festival is to disseminate the cultural heritage of most of the countries today referred to as Central and Eastern Europe: from the Balkans, Romania and Austria, the Visegrad Group countries, Ukraine and Belarus, to the Baltic States. The area is an extremely interesting melting pot, which allows to discover its complexity through the variety of works and artists presented. The uniqueness of the Festival is, on the one hand, drawing on tradition, and on the other, presenting completely new, previously undiscovered sounds. The euphonies present music of various eras and styles.

The name of the festival comes from the word euphonia (from Greek ευφωνία, euphonia), denoting harmoniously juxtaposed elements, harmoniously matched sounds. The festival’s identification is a combination of the letter “f” from the name and the sound hole of a violin, cello or double bass.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
