Barriers & Borders Exhibition @Morley Gallery

The first post pandemic 'one man' exhibition of London-based Polish artist Wojciech A Sobczyński.

15th – 30th January, Morley Gallery, 61 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7HT

The first post pandemic ‘one man’ exhibition of London-based Polish artist Wojciech A Sobczyński. “Barriers & Borders” is the response to the current developments, instabilities, worries and disappointments as observed by essentially a foreigner from a vantage point of life in London. The separation from Europe, the general rise of nationalism everywhere, the war in our midst and a likelihood of global conflict cuts deeply into our collective psyche.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
