A Story of Dreams and Freedom
Leaving conventions behind, a young girl from Warsaw embarks on an exhilarating journey where love, never-ending fun and unforgettable relationships await at every turn. Her colourful story unfolds between the realities of the capitalist West and the grey, yet humorous, communist Poland. The performance combines beloved songs written by Agnieszka Osiecka with excerpts from her diaries, interviews and anecdotes from the book “Szpetni Czterdziestoletni.”

A Musical Feast
Audiences will hear new interpretations of well-known hits, including:

  • “Damą być”
  • “Nie ma jak pompa”
  • “Na zakręcie”
  • …and many more!

After the performance, there will be a 30-minute workshop where the audience can share their favorite poems by Agnieszka Osiecka.

Mateusz Mirek, the director of the performance, emphasizes:
“‘Szalony, Zielony Bez’ is not just a concert with the greatest songs by Osiecka, but also a story about emigrants arriving in big cities like London, New York or Los Angeles. When creating this performance, I wanted to capture the different reasons we decide to leave our country: hope, excitement for the unknown, but also less positive motives such as dissatisfaction or a broken heart. It’s a story about dreams that don’t always have a happy ending. It’ll be an evening with unforgettable music and Osiecka’s extraordinary sense of humor. For me, it’s also an opportunity to sing songs I’ve always loved. I’m very excited that we can share this story with London and see how the audience will respond.”

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
