Belonging(s) Theatre Play at Mountview Festival 2025

Maja moves to London seeking a fresh start, but her idea of life away from home is crushed by the not-so-perfect reality - A play about experiences of immigration, identity and a search for new beginnings, produced by Ula Poloch, directed by Karol Olszewski and written by Kaja Pośnik.

26th-28th June, The Backstage Theatre, Mountview, 120 Peckham Hill Street, London SE15 5JT

Maja, an ambitious student from Poland, moves to London in search of a fresh start and a global education. But her idea of life away from home is quickly confronted with the not-so-perfect reality. Constantly challenged by the claustrophobic room, an empty fridge, a dull social life, pressing interrogations from loved ones, and the deafening silence she used to long for, Maja attempts to navigate her new reality, one milestone at a time. As she grapples with issues of identity, cultural connection, and sense of belonging, Maja yearns for a  home away from home and questions what it means to truly ‘belong’.

Belonging(s) will be presented as part of View Festival 2025- a two-week programme of theatre shows, events, and opportunities to discover each other’s worlds through the lens of theatre, in the heart of Peckham.

From Wednesday 18th June 2025 to Saturday 28th June 2025, View Festival presents two shows a day over the run of two weeks, and on the Super Saturdays you can attend all the performances of the week, with additional community-oriented opportunities, special events, and a space where to have a picnic, listen to music and be together.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
