The 36th Literary Salon at the Polish Hearth Club with Krzysztof Zanussi

The theme of the upcoming meeting will be “The Cinema and Writings of Krzysztof Zanussi”, and the conversation with the director will be led by his biographer, the well-known journalist Michał Dondzik.

The theme of the upcoming meeting will be “The Cinema and Writings of Krzysztof Zanussi”, and the conversation with the director will be led by his biographer, the well-known journalist Michał Dondzik. The guest’s newest film, Curriculum Vitae, with English subtitles, will also be screened. The programme will additionally feature: Joanna Ciechanowska (at the easel), Marta Carillon and Marek Tomaszewski (musical setting), Katarzyna Bzowska (Emigration Imponderabilia), and the event will be hosted by the Salon’s organizer, Regina Wasiak-Taylor, with assistance from Janusz Guttner.

The 36th Literary Salon will, as tradition dictates, be held over a seated dinner. Due to the planned film screening and the need to ensure comfortable conditions for all attendees, capacity for this event will be limited to 75 guests.

Dinner, including wine, prosecco (served as a welcome drink), and service, costs £40.

Kindly arrange payment by 10 December of this year.

The 36th Literary Salon at the Polish Hearth Club with Krzysztof Zanussi will take place on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at 3:45 p.m. on the first floor in the Hemar Room.

The film Curriculum Vitae is in Polish with English subtitles, but the meeting with Zanussi will be conducted in Polish.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
