About the Artist

Recognised globally as one of the world’s finest jazz vocalists, Urszula Dudziak has spent more than six decades captivating audiences across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Closely tied to the New York jazz scene since the 1970s, she has graced iconic stages from Carnegie Hall to the Newport Jazz Festival.

Dudziak’s extraordinary artistic language blends traditional jazz with pioneering vocal improvisation and electronic voice processing. Renowned for her flawless intonation, unmatched scat singing mastery, and a vocal range drawing comparisons to Yma Sumac, she is also the creator of the global hit composition Papaya.

With a five-star DownBeat magazine rating for her album Newborn Light and a Los Angeles Times “Singer of the Year” title to her name, her legacy is undeniable. She is a recipient of the prestigious Fryderyk Lifetime Achievement Award and was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace—the first time this honour was bestowed upon an artist from Eastern Europe.
