‘Honeyed intensity’, ‘emotional engagement’, ‘total vividness’, ‘passion and expressivity’: these are the qualities that have won trophies for the bass-baritone Florian Störtz, not least the 2023 International Handel Singing Competition. Now he and pianist Aleksandra Myslek introduce the rich, colourful late-Romantic sound world of Robert Kahn – their own debut album, and the first substantial Kahn recording by the voice for which he predominantly wrote, including fifteen premieres. Hugely admired in his time but forgotten since his crude and senseless vilification by the Nazis, Kahn becomes here the focus of a narrative that presages his
exile from his native Germany, given context with songs by Schumann, Korngold – another Jewish émigré – and Hindemith. In the launch concert, they will present some of the newly recorded songs by Kahn, along with carefully chosen pieces by Strauss, Stephen Hough, and the staple cycle of Schumann’s Kerner Lieder.

„Aleksandra is not only technically phenomenally gifted, with extraordinary stage presence, but possesses this mysterious, unquantifiable, special element…she graces any concert hall.” Tony Palmer
„What a delight it was to hear two passionate, sensitive artists completely united and immersed in these glorious songs. Florian’s seemingly effortless, true vocal quality and beautiful use of the German language, and Aleksandra’s rich fluency, thrilling virtuosity, whether in stillness, excitement, or intoxication. Most satisfying.” Sir John Tomlinson

Wznowienie (“The Revival”) by Maciej Wojtyszko @The

Two actresses. One dead director. A puppet show that means far more than it should. Wznowienie (“The Revival”), a darkly funny and quietly devastating play by acclaimed Polish playwright Maciej Wojtyszko, comes to London for just five performances. Performed in Polish with English surtitles, this rare production explores artistic genius, obsession, grief and the complicated relationships we form with those we admire most.
