The Polish Government in Exile 🗺

JW3 and the Polish Embassy host a panel discussion about the role the government-in-exile played in helping Jewish people during the Holocaust.

October 2019 marked the 80th anniversary of the creation of the Polish Government-in-Exile. To mark the occasion this January JW3 and the Polish Embassy will host a panel discussion about the role the government-in-exile played in helping Jewish people during the Holocaust, including informing the world.

The panel will consist of renowned experts on the subject:

Dr Mordecai Paldiel is a lecturer at Yeshiva University and Queens College in New York, and the former Director (1984-2007) of Yad Vashem’s Department of the Righteous. He has written several books devoted to the subject, including The Path of the Righteous: Gentile Rescuers of Jews During the Holocaust. He is a leading authority on the rescue of Jews during the Holocaust.

Prof Antony Polonsky is emeritus professor of Holocaust studies at Brandeis University, chief historian of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, and Co-Chair of the editorial board of Polin: Studies in Polish Jewry. He is the author of many historical works on the Holocaust, and is an expert on Polish-Jewish history.

Dr Wojciech Kozłowski is the Director of the Pilecki Institute, a Polish institution in charge of the interdisciplinary and international analysis of issues and developments that were of key importance to the political history of the 20th century, especially the Nazi and Soviet totalitarian regimes and the consequences of their actions on Polish citizens and globally. The patron of the institution is Witold Pilecki – a Polish cavalry officer, intelligence agent, and resistance leader who volunteered for Auchwitz in order to provide first-hand intelligence of the Nazi extermination programme to the West.

She specialises in big-name interviews and feature writing, arts and literary journalism.
