Ognisko Polskie (Polish Hearth) in conjunction with the De Reszke Association & Tomasz Lis present: “Jean & Edouard De Reszke – Masters of the World Opera”. With guest performance from Konrad Jaromin, and as part of “Polish Heritage Days” followed by wine & cocktail snacks.

In conjunction with the Ognisko Polskie and the Reszke Association, Tomasz Lis will take you back to the golden age of opera, discussing life and career of two remarkable brothers, whose voices took the world by storm, dominating the world’s most famous opera houses in the last decades of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

Their fascinating story will be illustrated by recordings, archive materials and live music.

Konrad Jaromin

Konrad Jaromin Polish bass baritone – graduate of the Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland (BMus with Honours in Vocal and Acting Performance, 2018) and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, UK (MMus, Artist Diploma in Opera Performance with Distinction, 2021). Konrad was a finalist in the Elizabeth Schumann Lieder Duo Competition and the Hurn Court Opera Competition.

He will be making his Holland Park Opera debut this season – playing the role of Captain/Zaretsky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

Tomasz Lis

Tomasz Lis is a distinguished pianist and chamber musician.

He has performed in major London venues including Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, St. John’s Smith Square, LSO St. Luke’s, Purcell Room, The Warehouse and The Chopin Society; and has appeared in recital at Cheltenham Music Festival, Mostly Mozart Festival, Chelsea Schubert Festival, London Festival of American Music and Meisinger Music Festival in Szczecin, among other places. He has been broadcast and appeared in person on BBC Radio 3. He appears regularly on Polish Television.

International appearances have included Poland with major Polish orchestras, the USA and Canada, where he has also been broadcast. He has lectured at the SongFest Festival in Los Angeles, where he also played numerous recitals. Tomasz performed with Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra ‘Amadeus’, at the Filharmonia Warminsko-Mazurska in Olsztyn, Polish Radio in Katowice, Fürstenstein Castle, National Forum of Music in Wrocław, the Stotsenberg Recital Series in Malibu and at the 75th anniversary gala concert at the Banff Festival in Canada, which was broadcast by CBS Radio.

In 2014 Tomasz released his debut album for the German label Rondeau Production. The record  features the Impromptus by Schubert, Chopin and Fauré. BBC Music Magazine wrote: “Tomasz Lis brings brooding intensity to Chopin and his Fauré illuminates an unfamiliar corner of that oeuvre”.

Tomasz is a Co-Founder of Bespoke Tour, concierge travel agency organising luxury trips to Poland. His next concerts include Łańcut International Music Festival in May and SongFest Festival, San Francisco in June.
