Silent Land

Special Screenings of Agnieszka Woszczyńska’s award-winning debut feature at Riverside Studios

24-29th September 2022

Riverside Studios present a series of special screenings of Silent Land a debut feature by Agnieszka Woszczyńska by Modern Films and our Opening Gala Film from this year’s Polish Film Festival Kinoteka.

Woszczyńska’s debut feature Silent Land is a mysterious, slow-burning portrait of guilt and denial, which opens up a complex dialogue about morality and incorporates the migrant crisis in Europe.

After arriving at a holiday villa on an Italian island, a Polish couple discovers that the swimming pool is empty. The migrant worker sent to fix it suffers a deadly poolside accident, setting off a chain of disturbing events that shake the moral foundations of this seemingly-perfect couple.

Silent Land debuted at Toronto International film Festival Toronto Film Festival, before picking up the FIPRESCI award in the International Competition at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
