First “Irena Sendler Humanitarian Award” at the Newark and Sherwood Community and Sports Awards 2024
The first ever Irena Sendler Humantarian Award, sponsored by the Polish Cultural Institute in London, was given out at the Newark-on-Trent Community Awards, building on Sendler's legacy in the town. In 2021, the Institute supported the unveiling of a permanent statue of Sendler in the town's Fountain Gardens.

International Geodiversity Day – 6th October
Proclaimed by UNESCO at the 41st General Conference in 2021 from an initial idea by scientists from Poland, Portugal and Great Britain, the International Day of Geodiversity was first celebrated in 2022. Its aim is to bring people together on October 6 each year, to promote the many aspects of geodiversity.
