May 2 – the Day of Polish Community and Poles Abroad and the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland

Wishes of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland on the Flag Day and thanks to Poles abroad for their achievements and contribution to the national heritage

May 2 is celebrated as the Day of the Polish Community and Poles Abroad and the Flag Day, adopted as a national holidays respectively in 2002 and 2004.

The colors of the Polish flag have a symbolic meaning. White symbolizes the eagle in the emblem of the Kingdom of Poland and the white knight in the emblem of the Duchy of Lithuania. Both

figures appeared on a red shield.

White and red were first announced as the national colors of Poland on May 3, 1792, on the first anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, and they were officially

adopted in 1831 during the November Uprising. Then, the Senate of the independent Republic of Poland adopted the form of the official flag on August 1, 1919.

The celebrations on May 2 are also dedicated to the Polish diaspora and Poles living outside Poland. It was established in recognition of the historical contribution and achievements to the

construction and care of the national heritage.

On this special day, you are welcome to watch the wishes of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Piotr Wawrzyk.
