Participate in a translation workshop for Polish speakers!
The workshop will include lectures from four experts in the field of translation and literature from Israel and Poland and aims to deepen knowledge and broaden the horizons of anyone interested in translating Polish literature into Hebrew.
The event will take place via Zoom on Friday, December 15 at 9:30 – 14:30.
9:30 a.m. – Dr. Małgorzata Ciunović, a Polish linguist, will talk about the modern Polish language and linguistic complexities facing translators.
10:45 – Magdalena Sommer, literary translator (from Hebrew to Polish), will lecture on the profession’s characteristics, a look at the Polish language from the perspective of a translator from the Hebrew language, and cultural and linguistic bridges between the two languages.
12:00 – Rafi Weichert, poetry translator, literary researcher, and publisher, will dedicate his lecture to the poetry of the Polish poet Ewa Lipska and the challenges of translating poetry using Lipska’s poetry, which Weichert recently translated.
13:15 – Miriam Borenstein, the translator of Polish literature into Hebrew, will hold a workshop session based on the novel by Olga Tokarczuk, “Flights”, the last book recently published and translated by Borenstein.
