Almost 20 years to the day since hip hop’s greatest producer’s untimely death, Polish quartet Błoto – one of the most vital voices to emerge from Europe’s jazz underground in recent years – bring their We Remember J Dilla project to Ronnie Scott’s for their first ever London show. In just 32 years, James Yancey aka Jay-Dee or J Dilla, redefined the sound of hip hop, racking up production credits with A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Erykah Badu, The Pharcyde, Common, D’Angelo and more, as well as releasing his hugely influential album Donuts in 2006. Since their explosive debut in 2020, Wrocław band Błoto have cultivated a reputation for radical live performances and concept-driven LPs. Drawing from spiritual jazz, hip-hop and raw improvisation, their unique sound is deeply rooted in 90s hip-hop-inspired grooves. After
a long hiatus, alongside the release of new album Grzybnia, the band launched the We Remember J Dilla project. This is a rare chance to hear one of the most forward-thinking jazz acts on the continent reinterpreting the beats of the hip-hop legend in their own unique way.

Line-up:
OLAFSAXX – saxophones, synthesizers
LATARNIK – piano, synthesizers
WUJA HZG – bass guitar
CANCER G – drums

Ticket prices: £35 – £50

The band’s name, Omasta, comes from a regional Krakow dialect word meaning “fat added to food for flavuor.” It’s an apt metaphor: their music is rich and saturated, driven by thick drums and deep, heavy bass, layered beneath the melodic interplay of piano, trumpet, saxophone, and flute. Formed in Krakow over several years, Omasta officially launched with a tribute to J Dilla in February 2024 at the city’s iconic Paul’s Boutique. Since then, they have been making waves across Poland and Europe, performing at major venues and festivals. They collaborate with genre-shaping artists such as Madlib, Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements), Marysia Osu, Tenderlonious, and Polish free jazz legend Leszek Żądło. Their live tributes to hip-hop visionaries have further cemented their reputation, merging jazz improvisation with the spirit and legacy of beat culture. In October 2025, Omasta released their debut album via Astigmatic Records. The record received strong critical recognition and was featured in year-end best-of lists by influential tastemakers such as Somewhere Soul and journalist Tina Edwards, further establishing the band’s international profile.

Every Friday and Saturday night from 11.15pm, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talent takes to the stage for a late-night blowing session. The music includes a range of music influenced by jazz-funk, soul, R&B and hip hop. A DJ will play sets before and after the live sets.

Line-up:
PAWEŁ KOWALIK – trumpet
ANTONI BLUMHOFF – flute, soprano sax
BRUNO SIKORSKI – piano
WOJCIECH ROMAN – bass
NIKODEM WIKIEŁ – drums

Ticket prices: £12

Adam Bałdych is a virtuoso of the violin, and composer and improviser, renowned for combining jazz freedom with profound sensitivity. Accompanied by Helge Lien, a master of piano lyricism known for his ability to build musical stories, the duo will meet on stage to create a soundscape in which Scandinavian melancholy and Slavic fervour intertwine. These two musicians have been collaborating for several years, meeting both in the studio and on festival stages in Poland and Norway. Their joint projects, including recordings with the Helge Lien Trio (the albums Brothers and Bridges released on ACT Music), have been met with critical and popular acclaim, and their music has been described as a unique blend of intimate subtlety and improvisational energy.

Line-up:
ADAM BAŁDYCH – violin
HELGE LIEN – piano

Ticket prices: £35

Klawo is a six-piece alternative jazz unit formed in 2020 in Gdansk, Poland. Deeply rooted in the spirit of the 1970s – when funk, soul, fusion, and psychedelia were still too young to know they were separate genres – Klawo blend an old-school approach with a modern sensibility that nods to post-Dilla jazz, indie, and electronic music. With two acclaimed studio albums and a reputation for electrifying live shows, Klawo have performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious festivals, including Montreux Jazz Festival, ESNS, Fusion Festival and Off Festival. In autumn 2025, they made their Japanese debut with two shows at Sound Culture: Poland x Japan Music Festival in Osaka. Emerging from the vibrant and diverse Gdańsk music scene, and having played nearly 100 shows across 14 countries, Klawo are recognised as one of Poland’s most exciting contemporary jazz acts. Driven by two keyboards, a powerful rhythm section, and melodic horns, their sound has drawn comparisons to contemporary UK jazz, 1970s Polish funk, and experimental LA hip-hop – though the truth is likely somewhere in between.

Line-up:
KONSTANTY KOSTKA – keyboards
KAROL TCHÓRZ – trumpet
ALICJA SOBSTYL – flute, vocals
TOMASZ RAFALSKI – keyboards, percussion
ARTUR SZALSZA – bass, guitar
JAKUB KRZANOWSKI – drums

Ticket prices: £35 – £50
