Kreative Talks with fashion show producer John Walford

Join John Walford as he shares his story of creating The Fashion Scout and Graduate Fashion Week — both of which have launched the careers of many young, emerging fashion designers.

Saturday 24 May 2025 at 12pm, Location: art’otel London Hoxton, 1-3 Rivington St
London EC2A 3DT

Tickets: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/artificialkreativity/1607415

Walford will talk on the relevance of the fashion industry, how other design disciplines such as Architecture, Sculpture and Cars influence fashion designers, and the role of fashion shows in marketing the clothes.

John is one of the most experienced fashion show producers delivering in over 28 countries. He is the co-founder of The Fashion Scout and Graduate Fashion Week which have been been responsible for launching the careers of some of the most successful designers.

John has always had an interest in developing new ideas and concepts, seeing fashion not as a stand-alone entity but an interesting synthesis of fine art, literature, architecture and film. This reflects his past experience working with Vivienne Westwood, Romeo Gigli, Manish Arora, and many other international designers.

Other work includes helping develop Shanghai Fashion Week, Shenzhen Fashion Week, lecturing at universities both in the UK and abroad, and helping the British Council promote British Fashion Design and British Fashion Design education overseas.

Polish Fashion Stories: Unexpected Encounter – Batik

The earliest known examples of Polish batiks appeared around 1903 at an exhibition in Kraków, when the artist Jan Bukowski presented furniture upholstered in textiles decorated with what was called then “a manner of Easter eggs” - it was before the term batik had even entered the Polish language. From this point, other Kraków artists began to further explore the technique and its possibilities.
