Jenny Berggren
Swedish illustrator and visual artist based in Umeå, Sweden, where she has her studio in a studio collective consisting of about ten people active in various creative fields. As a visual artist Berggren works mainly in oil and within the field of realism. She has a diploma from the Swedish Academy of Realist Art (SARA) in Simrishamn. As an illustrator she mainly illustrates children’s books, among them the Swedish editions of works by authors such as E. B. White and Jan Brzechwa. In 2022 her first very own book was published, a book with only pictures for small children. For her illustrations, she uses various techniques such as graphite pencils, watercolour, gouache and digital painting. For Brzechwa’s ”Herr Klex akademi”, which is part of this exhibition, she used ink throughout the whole book, since that element is essential for the story.
Zbigniew Lengren
Zbigniew Lengren was a legendary comic-strip artist for “Przekrój”; a caricaturist who never presented anyone in a malicious way. He invented Professor Filutek, a jolly man dressed in old-fashioned style, with a bowler hat and umbrella. In life, Lengren avoided anything that seemed arrogant or conceited, snobbish or pompous, or demanded too much respect for procedures, hierarchies and obedience. (source: PRZEKRÓJ Foundation)
Projektet är ett samarbete mellan Polska institutet i Stockholm, Tjeckiska Centret Stockholm, Tjeckiens Ambassad i Stockholm, Slovakiens Ambassad i Stockholm och Ungerns Ambassad i Stockholm.
